In Retrospect :

What a great year 06 was for Duck Musique.  Bucket loads of gigs around Melbourne, and two successful residencies at Wesley Anne and Bebida Café.

They were also invited to play eight shows at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival at Trades Hall… which were swingin’!  Musicians from Manouche a Trois, Croque Monsieur, Tzigas and The Cat Empire sat in on many of the sessions at The Bystander bar.

Maldon Folk Festival was next on the Quack hit list. The highlight would have to have been playing 100 meters down a quartz mine, and of course, playing to thousands of people on the Main Stage.

OZMANOUCHE!  One weekend in November every djangophile in Australia culminated on the banks of the Brisbane River at the Brisbane Jazz Club to swing the whiskers off the Catfish!  So many passionate musicians and a lovely, generous crowd.  (Some one gave Kelsey a hundred dollar tip!)  A great weekend and a splendid festival debut.

December saw Duck Musique in the studio recording their debut album, “Castle In Thornbury”.  They spent seven days recording 14 tracks, under the engineering wizardry of Jess Warnock, and came out with a stunning and epic debut.  Graeme Galloway provided two pieces of eye-popping artwork in which to wrap the CD.  There will be an auction for these pieces at the “Castle In Thornbury” CD launch, to be held on the 24th of February at Don’t Tell Tom, 420 Sydney Rd, Brunswick.  There will also be a special guest appearance by our old friend and comrade-in-dance, Miss Lula Shaker.
